## Synopsis

The Brink (2015) is a United States HBO dark comedy series created by Kim Benabib and Roberto Benabib, a single-season run of ten half-hour episodes. Jack Black plays Alex Talbot, a top government official, alongside Tim Robbins as Walter Larson and Pablo Schreiber as Zeke Tilson, two fellow officials and military figures. Aasif Mandvi as Rafiq Massoud and Esai Morales as President Julian Navarro add weight to the high-level machinery. The engine of the show is simple and frantic: these men must prevent a looming World War 3 while every decision is complicated by bureaucratic rivalry, personal ego, and the chaos of a geopolitical crisis unfolding in the Pakistan region. Each episode is built from tense briefings, improvised diplomacy, and blunders that escalate the stakes. The tone is caustic, sardonic and breathless, mixing gallows humor with genuine unease about how close the world comes to catastrophe. Viewers who enjoy the satirical edge of Dr. Strangelove and the foul-mouthed political bite of Veep will find resonance here, as will fans of crisis-room drama in the vein of Homeland. The series was canceled after its first season, leaving its story unfinished.
