## Synopsis

Four Tank-Men and a Dog (1966-1970) is a Polish national-television war adventure series created from Janusz Przymanowski's book and broadcast on TVP1. Following the crew of the T-34 tank Rudy, numbered 102, the show centers on driver Janek Kos (Janusz Gajos), gunner Gustlik Jeleń (Franciszek Pieczka), and Grigorij Saakaszwili (Włodzimierz Press), with commander and mentor Olgierd Jarosz (Roman Wilhelmi) and Tomasz Czereśniak (Wiesław Gołas) rounding out the crew. Their companion is Szarik, a German Shepherd from Siberia who has become an icon of Polish popular culture. The engine of the series is simple: the crew must keep their tank running and keep each other alive while moving through the 1st Polish Army campaign across 1944 and 1945. Each 55-minute episode is built from a mission, a skirmish, or a stretch of hardship in the field. Across three seasons and twenty-one episodes, the tone is earnest, warm, and nostalgic, with comradeship carrying more weight than spectacle. Filmed in black and white, the series has a cult following across Poland and the Eastern Bloc, and fans of Band of Brothers and Combat! will find resonance in its portrait of soldiers bound together by shared danger.
