## Synopsis

Mr. Plankton (2024) is a South Korean dark romantic comedy miniseries created by Hong Jong-chan and Jo Yong for Netflix. Woo Do-hwan plays Hae Jo, a man weighed down by relentless misfortune who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and Lee You-mi plays Jo Jae-mi, an unluckiest-of-brides whose wedding has collapsed into chaos. Bound together against their will, the two are forced to share the final journey of his life, and the engine of the story is a tangle of kidnapping, pursuit, and a search for the biological parents who might explain who they are. Oh Jung-se, Kim Hae-sook, and Kim Min-seok round out the principal cast, adding gangster schemes, family secrets, and warm eccentric supporting characters. Across ten hour-long episodes the show moves between slapstick chase set pieces and quiet moments of grief, building a found family out of strangers. Its tone is wistful, tender, and sardonic at once, balancing gallows humor against the fragility of living well. Fans of Uncontrollably Fond, My Mister, and Crash Landing on You will find resonance in its blend of romance, comedy, and melancholy. This is a self-contained limited series rather than an ongoing drama, and it rewards viewers who want a second chance romance with real heart.
