## Synopsis

Kaalkoot (2023) is an Indian Hindi-language crime drama miniseries created by Sumit Saxena for JioCinema. Vijay Varma stars as SI Ravi Shankar Tripathi, a tenacious and dedicated police sub-inspector who is pulled to the centre of a challenging acid attack case. Shweta Tripathi Sharma plays Parul Chaturvedi, and Seema Biswas appears as Ravi's mother, grounding the investigation in his personal world. Yashpal Sharma and Gopal Datt round out the cast as fellow officers and figures whose loyalties and motives complicate the hunt. The engine of the series is the slow, stubborn work of a police officer chasing evidence through station paperwork, interrogation rooms and crowded neighbourhoods, while pressure from superiors and the emotional weight of a victim's ordeal push him onward. Told across eight episodes of roughly 38 minutes each, it is a single continuing case rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is gritty, sombre and intense, with a grounded realism that foregrounds institutional friction and the human cost of violence. Set in contemporary north India, it has the texture of a police procedural shaped by the Hindi crime tradition. Fans of Sacred Games and Criminal Justice will find resonance in its moral seriousness and character-driven investigation.
