## Synopsis

The Trunk (2024) is a South Korean limited series created by Kim Kyu-tae for Netflix, an eight-episode miniseries adapted from a novel and produced by GTist and PROJECT318. The story begins when a trunk washes up on the shore, uncovering a secret marriage service and the unusual marriage at its heart. Noh In-ji (Seo Hyun-jin) and Han Jeong-won (Gong Yoo) anchor the drama, and the wider cast includes Jung Yun-ha as Lee Seo-yeon and Kim Dong-won as Eom Tae-seong, each entangled in the hidden arrangements. The engine is simple and gripping: each episode peels back another layer of lies, forcing characters to weigh what they want against what they must protect. Its shape is a single contained mystery told in one continuing thread, so every reveal depends on the last. The contemporary Korean setting keeps the stakes intimate, with apartments, offices and quiet coastal streets providing the backdrop for tension. Tone is layered and emotionally charged, mixing wrath, longing and quiet dread. Fans of Mr. Sunshine and Big Little Lies will find resonance in its polished, morally tangled drama and its patient unraveling of secrets.
