## Synopsis

The Murky Stream (2025) is a South Korean historical drama series created by Chun Sung-il for Disney+. Set in the Joseon dynasty, the story follows three intertwined lives: a man with a hidden past, played by Rowoon as Jang Siyul, a wise and just woman, Shin Ye-eun as Choi Eun, and an upright man, Park Seo-ham as Jung-chun. Their paths converge as personal loyalties and secrets collide with the pressures of a corrupt and unstable court. Each episode of this nine-episode single season builds tension through shifting alliances, quiet confrontations, and moments of violence that break open the calm surface of palace and provincial life. Park Ji-hwan and Jeon Bae-soo add weight to the ensemble, grounding the political maneuvering in human stakes. The tone is somber and tense, with a melancholic undercurrent that treats duty and survival with seriousness. Fans of Mr. Sunshine, Kingdom and Six Flying Dragons will find resonance in its blend of period detail, court intrigue, and character driven drama. The series runs about fifty minutes per episode and is best suited to viewers who want a focused, self-contained korean historical drama with emotional depth.
