## Synopsis

Carême (2025) is a French historical drama series created by Davide Serino and Ian Kelly for Apple TV, a single-season limited run of eight 44-minute episodes. Benjamin Voisin plays Antonin Carême, a gifted pastry artist who becomes the world's first celebrity chef, and his rise carries him into the murky world of espionage. Jérémie Renier stars as the cunning diplomat Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord, while Micha Lescot appears as the shrewd police minister Joseph Fouché and Lyna Khoudri plays Henriette Mahy de Chitenay, a figure whose allegiances complicate Carême's path. The engine of the show is simple and sharp: a talented outsider uses his gifts for gastronomy and seduction to win favor in kitchens and salons, only to find that every banquet hides a negotiation for power. Each episode unfolds in lavish dining rooms, royal kitchens and candlelit parlors, where a sauce can carry a secret and a dinner can settle a fate. Set in Napoleonic France, the series blends period romance with the tension of covert maneuvering. Its tone is sensual, witty and watchful, with a steady undercurrent of unease. Fans of Versailles, The Great and Barry Lyndon will find resonance in its mix of courtly splendor, sharp politics and the sway of appetite.
