## Synopsis

The Freelancer (2023) is an Indian action thriller limited series created by Neeraj Pandey and released on Disney+ Hotstar. Mohit Raina plays Avinash Kamath, an ex-cop turned mercenary known as The Freelancer, who accepts a near-impossible assignment to rescue Aliya, a newly married woman trapped in a war-torn Syria. Anupam Kher appears as Dr. Arif Khan, and Kashmira Pardesi plays Aliya Khan, with Sushant Singh and Manjari Fadnnis rounding out the principal cast. Across seven episodes of roughly fifty minutes each, the engine of the series is a lone operative pushing through checkpoints, shifting alliances, and hostile territory while the expanding grip of ISIS tightens around every move. The story unfolds as a single continuous mission rather than a case of the week, so each episode builds momentum toward the rescue. Set in the Syrian conflict as the extremist movement rises, the series carries a tense, grounded register, with moments of brutal violence balanced by human moments of family and loyalty. It is adapted from the book A Ticket To Syria, and fans of Homeland, Tiger Zinda Hai and Raw will find resonance in its espionage tension and morally gray operative.
