## Synopsis

Börje - The Journey of a Legend (2023) is a Swedish national-television biographical sports miniseries created by Amir Chamdin for Viaplay. Across six 44-minute episodes it follows hockey legend Börje Salming (Valter Skarsgård) as he leaves a small Swedish town behind and fights his way into the North American ice hockey world. Alongside his climb toward NHL stardom, the story turns to his romance with Margitta Wendin (Hedda Stiernstedt), whose presence anchors his personal life while the pressures of the rink mount. Jason Priestley appears as Gerry McNamara, adding a North American counterweight to the Swedish story. The series is built around concrete sporting milestones, locker room rivalries, and the cultural distance a young player must cross to be accepted abroad. Its tone is earnest and warm, with a sincere sense of pride in a national hero and a steady undercurrent of longing. Fans of Miracle and Ali will find resonance in its true-story underdog framing and its portrait of an athlete whose career and heart pull in different directions. The result is a compact, inspirational biography that plays best for viewers who enjoy hockey history and grounded sports drama.
