## Synopsis

Toxic Town is a British true-story miniseries created by Jack Thorne for Netflix. Set in the steel town of Corby in England, it follows a group of mothers whose babies are born with disabilities, and their struggle to hold those responsible to account. Jodie Whittaker plays Susan McIntyre, one of the women at the heart of the fight, alongside Aimee Lou Wood as Tracey Taylor, Claudia Jessie as Maggie Mahon, and Robert Carlyle as Sam Hagen. The engine of the four-episode story is a David and Goliath contest, with ordinary residents pushing against industry and powerful institutions that have ignored warnings for years. Each episode builds the pressure through hospital wards, family kitchens, and community meetings, as the women gather evidence and refuse to be silenced. The tone is harrowing and angry yet grounded and humane, with a steady dread about what the town has been exposed to. Fans of Erin Brockovich and Dark Waters will find resonance in its portrait of a community confronting corporate negligence, and admirers of Happy Valley will recognise its working-class British drama.
