## Synopsis

Spy Ops (2023) is a US documentary docuseries created for Netflix, presented as an eight-episode run of roughly 45 minutes each. Rather than following a single protagonist, it gathers intelligence operatives from MI6 and the CIA who speak directly to the camera about their own careers. Each episode is built from insider stories of spy craft, covert field work and the clandestine campaigns that defined the Cold War, including the coups carried out by agents working in the shadows. The engine is simply the testimony itself: former officers reconstructing decisions, risks and close calls, with the tension arising from how little of their work ever reached the public. Its tone is measured and authoritative, with a true crime undercurrent that keeps the stakes of each operation sharp. Viewers drawn to declassified history, cloak and dagger intrigue or the human side of statecraft will find a clear and compact survey of how secret wars were fought. Fans of The Vietnam War and Wild Wild Country will find resonance in its blend of archival-style history and first-person accounts, and the series suits anyone who wants espionage told as a real account rather than a dramatization.
