## Synopsis

F.C. De Kampioenen (1990-2011) is a Flemish national-television sitcom created by Bruno Raes, Willy Vanduren and Luc Beerten for VRT 1. Across twenty-one seasons and 273 half-hour episodes, it follows the members of a fictional local football club who drift between training sessions and the clubhouse canteen run by Pascale De Backer (Danni Heylen), who is in a relationship with Maurice. The club's sausage-factory sponsor Balthazar Boma (Marijn Devalck) and the fraudulent antiques dealer Fernand Costermans (Jaak Van Assche), whose shop sits beside the pitch, supply most of the friction. Nearly every episode is built from misunderstandings, petty schemes and dirty tricks that snowball into farce around ordinary small-town routines. The series is a broad, stereotype-driven comedy, cozy and unpretentious, with a repeating cast that audiences grew attached to over decades. Its engine is simple: a recurring ensemble, a shared local setting and a steady stream of harmless mishaps. Fans of Cheers, Allo Allo! and Ted Lasso will recognise its mix of ensemble chemistry, slapstick and affectionate caricature of a small club community.
