## Synopsis

The Stolen Girl (2025) is a British psychological thriller miniseries created by Catherine Moulton for Disney+. Across five episodes of roughly 42 minutes each, it follows Elisa (Denise Gough), a mother who allows her daughter Lucia to join an impromptu sleepover with a new friend after meeting the friend's mother, Rebecca (Holliday Grainger), at a beautiful home. When Elisa returns the next day to collect her, the house proves to be an empty luxury rental and Lucia has vanished. The engine of the story is Elisa's frantic, increasingly desperate search, shaped by the police investigation led by DI Shona Sinclair (Bronagh Waugh) and the fraying strains on her family, including her husband Fred (Jim Sturgess). Each episode peels back another layer of deception, with the tension built on who can be trusted and what appearances conceal. The register is tense, anxious and dread-filled, with a grounded domestic realism that keeps the suspense close to home. Viewers who enjoy The Missing, Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects will find resonance in its blend of maternal anguish, polished surfaces and a mystery that hinges on a single deceptive setting. It is a short, self-contained limited series, watched best in one or two sittings.
