## Synopsis

The Jetty (2024) is a British crime drama series created by Cat Jones for BBC One. Jenna Coleman plays DC Ember Manning, a detective who returns to the tranquil coastal town where she grew up, only to find that a seemingly quiet community conceals dark secrets that threaten her understanding of consent and her own life. Archie Renaux plays Hitch, and Amelia Bullmore plays Sylvia, among a wider ensemble of principal players. The engine of the story is a present-day missing person inquiry that drags an old cold case back to the surface, a seventeen-year-old unsolved disappearance connected to a local teenage girl. Ember must investigate her own past, including a fraught relationship with her mother over what was or was not protected when she was young. The show runs as a single four-episode limited series, with each hour peeling back another layer of the investigation. Its tone is bleak, watchful and tense, built on quiet small town atmosphere that feels increasingly oppressive. Fans of Broadchurch, Happy Valley and The Missing will find resonance in its grounded British police drama, its emotional weight and its interest in the community's complicity. The result is a sombre, unsettling mystery that rewards close attention and leaves its central questions open.
