## Synopsis

Newtopia (2025) is a South Korean zombie apocalypse series created by Han Jin-won and Ji Ho-jin and released on Coupang Play. Park Jeong-min plays Lee Jae-yoon, a late military enlistee whose phone breakup with his girlfriend Young-joo collapses into misunderstanding just before a zombie outbreak tears through the country. JISOO plays Young-joo, who risks the infected streets of Seoul to reach him, while Im Sung-jae and Kim Jun-han fill out the soldiers stranded with Jae-yoon. The engine is simple and propulsive: a national emergency, a plane crash in the city center, and a unit trapped atop a skyscraper, with each episode pushing the lovers toward each other through danger. The eight-episode single season moves quickly and mixes gory zombie peril with lighter comic beats and a romantic core. Its tone is breathless and fun, with the feel of a zom-com built around a love story. Fans of Train to Busan, Alive and Warm Bodies will find resonance in its blend of outbreak survival and heart. The series is set in present-day Seoul during the outbreak and is aimed at viewers who enjoy fast genre television with romance.
