## Synopsis

Piel de otoño (2005) is a Mexican telenovela created by Liliana Abud and Eric Vonn and produced by Televisa for Las Estrellas. Laura Flores plays Lucía Villareal de Mendoza, a woman worn down by the abuse of her husband and children, who finds refuge in a friendship with a stranger online who signs his messages only as wind. René Strickler plays Don Santiago Mestre, the man behind those messages, and the story pulls the two toward each other across a web of family pressures and hidden feelings. Sergio Goyri plays Don Ramón Mendoza, whose cruelty at home drives much of the suffering. The series runs a single season of 100 episodes, shot in a conventional weekday format with each episode carrying a new turn in the romance and the household conflict. It is a remake of the 1986 Televisa telenovela Cicatrices del alma, and it sits in the tradition of Latin American romantic melodrama. Its register is emotional, sincere and heightened, with a soap opera pull toward longing, betrayal and redemption. Fans of Cicatrices del alma, Rosalinda and Yo soy Betty, la fea will find resonance in its blend of romance, domestic hardship and devotion. Set in contemporary Mexico, it is an intimate, emotionally charged drama built for viewers who love long-form romance.
