## Synopsis

The Perfect Miss (2024) is a German romantic comedy series created by Nicolas Berse and Sabine Boss for Prime Video. Anke Engelke plays Maria Lampe and Bastian Pastewka plays Ralf Hartmann, two adults who feel stuck in their lives and who seem, to everyone watching, like an absolute dream team if only they would finally meet. The engine of the story is that near-miss: each of the eight short half-hour episodes sets up another almost-encounter, with the obstacles coming from ordinary daily life, family members and the awkward logistics of two separate lives. Lea Freund plays Lily Hartmann, Melodie Simina plays Sophie Duval and Jochen Langner plays Günther, rounding out a cast of relatives and acquaintances who keep pulling the leads in different directions. The series is a single self-contained season with a compact run of eight episodes, set in present-day Germany. Its tone is warm, wry and gently melancholic, with a hopeful undercurrent beneath the comedy. Fans of Notting Hill, You've Got Mail and Eine ganz heiße Nummer will find resonance in its mix of romantic longing and sharp everyday humor.
