## Synopsis

Boat Story (2023) is a British BBC One crime thriller miniseries created by Harry Williams and Jack Williams. Across six hour-long episodes, two hard-up strangers, Samuel Wells (Paterson Joseph) and Janet Campbell (Daisy Haggard), stumble across a haul of cocaine on a shipwrecked boat and agree to sell it and split the cash. Their plan quickly tangles them with police officers, masked hitmen and a sharp-suited gangster known as The Tailor (Tchéky Karyo). Each episode tightens the pressure as the pair try to stay one step ahead of everyone who wants the drugs back, and the story leans on double-crosses and sudden reversals rather than long backstories. The tone is gritty and propulsive, with brutal set pieces balanced against moments of human vulnerability in the criminals and the people chasing them. Set in present-day Britain, the series sits in the tradition of British crime caper thrillers, and fans of Fargo, Snatch and Breaking Bad will find resonance in its ordinary people drawn into dangerous criminal worlds. The miniseries is a self-contained, tightly plotted watch with a single complete arc.
