## Synopsis

Above Suspicion (2009-2012) is a British crime drama series created by Lynda La Plante for ITV1. Kelly Reilly plays Anna Travis, a rookie detective determined to earn respect in a male-dominated London police department while hunting a trail of gruesome murders by an unknown serial killer. Ciarán Hinds plays James Langton, the senior officer whose guidance and suspicion shape her path, and Shaun Dingwall and Amanda Lawrence round out the investigating team. Each four-season installment is built from feature-length 90-minute episodes adapted from a separate La Plante novel, so every story gives the team a new case with its own killer, its own forensic trail and its own dead ends, leaving the larger arc of Anna's professional struggle to build quietly across the run. The tone is tense, grim and procedural, with an emphasis on interrogation rooms, grieving families and the bureaucratic pressure that surrounds each investigation. Its atmosphere is cold and urban, rooted in contemporary London rather than spectacle. Fans of Prime Suspect, The Fall and other British police dramas centred on a determined female detective will find resonance here.
