## Synopsis

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (2009-2010) is a Japanese tokusatsu sentai series created for TV Asahi, a family-oriented action show produced by Toei Company. Young Takeru Shiba (Tori Matsuzaka), the newly named head of a samurai clan stretching back eighteen generations, must gather four loyal vassals to fight the Gedoushu, malevolent spirits that slip into the living world through gaps between buildings. As the Shinkengers, Takeru and his team draw on the revived Doukoku Chimatsuri, sealed sword powers that summon giant robot forms for battles against towering monsters. Ryunosuke Ikenami (Hiroki Aiba) and Mako Shiraishi (Rin Takanashi) join the ranks alongside Chiaki Tani (Shogo Suzuki), Kotoha Hanaori (Suzuka Morita), and Genta Umemori (Keisuke Sohma), while the veteran retainer Hikoma Kusakabe (Goro Ibuki) keeps the clan's traditions alive. The single season of forty-nine episodes runs as a standalone, episodic format of weekly monster fights bound by an ongoing clan mission. Its bright palette, costumed set pieces, and earnest heroism deliver a cheerful, sincere register. Fans of Power Rangers, Kamen Rider Den-O, and Ultraman will find familiar resonance in its blend of team heroics and giant monster spectacle.
