## Synopsis

Monty Python's Fliegender Zirkus (1972) is a German-British sketch comedy miniseries produced by WDR for West German television, broadcast on Das Erste. Consisting of just two 45-minute specials, it brings the Monty Python troupe, including Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam and Connie Booth, to a series of absurdist sketches with no single protagonist and no continuing story. Each episode is built from short, rapid-fire vignettes that escalate into surreal nonsense, mocking pomposity, bureaucracy and polite society with anarchic energy. Much of the material was shot on film across Bavarian locations, giving the surreal humor an unusual European backdrop, and one episode was recorded in German while the other was performed in English and dubbed. Fans of Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Goodies and Kids in the Hall will find the same playful, irreverent register here, a brisk, witty and cheerfully bizarre viewing experience best suited to fans of British absurdism and cult comedy seeking a short, offbeat curiosity.
