## Synopsis

Boys Over Flowers (2009) is a South Korean KBS2 romantic comedy-drama series created by Yoon Ji-ryun and Jeon Ki-sang, a k-drama adapted in spirit from the popular manga tradition. Ku Hye-sun plays Geum Jan-di, a poor high school student who wins a scholarship to an elite academy, where she collides with its most powerful clique and its leader Gu Jun-pyo, played by Lee Min-ho. Around them orbit Kim Hyun-joong as Yoon Ji-hoo, Kim Bum as So Yi-jeong and Kim So-eun as Chu Ga-eul, whose friendships and rivalries complicate every step of the romance. The engine is simple and sticky: a girl who refuses to be intimidated, a boy who is used to getting everything, and a school whose social hierarchy keeps pushing them together and apart. Each episode mixes bullying storylines, schoolyard scheming and escalating romantic tension, told across a single season of twenty-five hour-long episodes. The tone moves between breezy teen comedy and melodramatic heartache, with glossy wealthy-school sets and a sincere, cozy warmth. Fans of Gossip Girl, Full House and Meteor Garden will find the same class-crossing romance and high school glamour here.
