## Synopsis

A Nearly Normal Family (2023) is a Swedish national-television nordic noir miniseries created by Hans Jörnlind, Anna Platt and Per Hanefjord and released on Netflix. Across six episodes of roughly 47 minutes each, the story follows the Sandell household, where Stella Sandell (Alexandra Karlsson Tyrefors) and her parents Ulrika Sandell (Lo Kauppi) and Adam Sandell (Björn Bengtsson) present a polished, respectable face to their neighbours. A shocking killing breaks that facade, and the family must make desperate moves to shield one another while the investigation tightens. Prosecutor Jenny Jansdotter (Moa Gammel) and the surrounding community press in from the outside, so each episode tightens the pressure between concealment and exposure. The engine is simple and gripping: what a family will do to keep its secrets, and what those secrets cost. The tone is tense, claustrophobic and morally uneasy, with a cold, measured atmosphere that suits a serialized thriller. Fans of The Killing, Big Little Lies and Ozark will find resonance in its domestic dread, its suburban respectability cracking under strain, and its uncomfortable portrait of loyalty under threat. Its one-season, single-story shape makes it a compact, intense watch.
