## Synopsis

The Judge from Hell (2024) is a South Korean supernatural crime series created by Jo Yi-soo for SBS, a single-season run of fourteen hour-long episodes. Park Shin-hye plays Kang Bit Na, a cruel and self-serving judge who is secretly a reincarnated demon, and her counterpart is Kim Jae-young as Han Da-on, a warm and cheerful detective who insists that the victims come first. Kim Ah-young, Kim In-kwon and Park Ji-hoon round out the principal cast. Each episode is built around a murder case in which the judge hands down sentences with brutal, infernal force while the detective works the evidence, so the engine of the show is the uneasy partnership between justice and cruelty. The tone shifts between dark humour and sudden bloody violence, and the atmosphere is intense and often unsettling. Set in contemporary South Korea, it blends the procedural rhythm of a crime show with the moral heat of a supernatural revenge fantasy. Fans of Lucifer, Hell Is Other People and Voice will find resonance in its mix of demonic charisma, murder investigation and a morally complicated heroine.
