## Synopsis

Like Water for Chocolate (2024-2026) is a Mexican-American magic realist period drama series created by Sandra García Velten for HBO Latin America and HBO Latino. Tita de la Garza (Azul Guaita) is a young woman whose family customs forbid her from marrying, so she must remain at home caring for her mother, Mamá Elena (Irene Azuela). Her love for Pedro Múzquiz (Andres Baida) is kept apart by those rules, and her only refuge is the kitchen, where her feelings seep into every dish with magical effects on those who eat them. Across two seasons of twelve episodes, the story moves through the rhythms of family ritual, household rivalry and quiet defiance, set against the upheaval of the Mexican Revolution in a rural ranch. The tone is lush and sensual, mixing warmth with melancholy and a sense of longing. Fans of Like Water for Chocolate, Gone with the Wind and Ugly Betty will find resonance in its blend of romance, tradition and family melodrama. Season ratings hold steady at around seven out of ten, and the series ends with a bittersweet resolution.
