## Synopsis

Zwei Weihnachtsmänner (2008) is a German comedy miniseries created for SAT.1 and produced by Brainpool, told in two feature-length ninety-minute episodes. Tilmann Dilling, a tough lawyer played by Christoph Maria Herbst, and Hilmar Kess, a childish pool-noodle salesman played by Bastian Pastewka, are thrown together as unlikely traveling companions. Their engine is simple and urgent: both need to get home to Berlin before Christmas, and every mile of the journey turns into a fresh obstacle that exposes the gulf between their temperaments. The story moves through a chain of mishaps on the road, with awkward encounters and escalating misunderstandings that force the stiff professional and the goofy salesman to rely on each other. Supporting performers including Floriane Daniel, Sophie von Kessel and Armin Rohde add warmth and eccentricity to the detours. Told as a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format, the miniseries stays light, breezy and festive, with a cozy holiday atmosphere and a gentle heart beneath its slapstick. Fans of Planes, Trains and Automobiles and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation will find familiar pleasures in its odd couple chemistry and seasonal chaos.
