## Synopsis

The Double (2024) is a Chinese historical costume drama series created by Qian Shan Cha Ke for Youku. Wu Jinyan plays Xue Fangfei, the daughter of a well-off county magistrate whose family is destroyed after a sudden upheaval. Saved by Jiang Li, the daughter of the Secretariat Director, she takes on Jiang Li's identity and returns to the imperial capital. There she relies on allies including the duke Xiao Heng, played by Wang Xingyue, as she works to free her father, who has been wrongly imprisoned. Across a single run of forty episodes, each installment brings another obstacle, another court maneuver, and another instance of injustice she must face while concealing who she really is. The tone blends revenge and romance with melodramatic reversals and a hopeful, second chance arc. Its setting is a palace-centered capital where rank and reputation decide everything. Viewers who enjoy The Story of Minglan, Nirvana in Fire and Eternal Love will find the same mix of court intrigue, resilient heroines and romantic loyalty here.
