## Synopsis

El Gallo de Oro (2023-present) is a Mexican telenovela-style romance drama created by Juan Rulfo for Las Estrellas and ViX. Its protagonist is La Caponera, a palenque singer played by Lucero, whose gift brings luck to the man who travels with her. Opposite her is Dionisio, a strange and introverted town crier played by José Ron, and the pair drift from fair to fair across the center of the country. Plutarco Haza, Alberto Estrella and Eric del Castillo fill out the principal cast. The engine of the series is the tension between a passionate attachment and the wandering life that keeps pulling the couple apart, while each episode lands on a new town, a new fair and a new set of locals who bend toward their fortune. Shaped as an ongoing two-season run of twenty episodes, the show moves with the rhythm of a traveling romance rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its atmosphere is sensual, nostalgic and melodramatic, with folk music and dust-colored rural roads giving the romance a lyrical edge. Fans of Como agua para chocolate and María la del Barrio will find resonance in its blend of heightened passion, Mexican folk tradition and emotional sweep.
