## Synopsis

Family Matters (2024-present) is a South Korean supernatural crime comedy created by Kim Jung-min for Coupang Play. Bae Doona plays Han Young-su, one of a group of people with supernatural powers who form a surrogate family to protect themselves from a criminal syndicate. Ryoo Seung-bum appears as Baek Cheol-hee and Jin Seo-yeon as Ahn So-jin, with the ensemble built around the Baek siblings Baek Ji-hoon (Lomon) and Baek Ji-woo (Lee Soo-hyun). The engine is simple and sticky: the group must keep one another alive and hidden while a criminal organization closes in, so each episode is built from a blend of action set pieces, mind-bending power plays, and domestic bickering. The show runs as a continuing serialized story across a short run of hour-long episodes, currently two seasons, with the second season still in progress. Its mood mixes playful menace with warmth, the comedy of a makeshift household against the violence of organized crime. Set in present-day South Korea, it sits within the tradition of quirky Korean genre television and will appeal to viewers who enjoy the ensemble chemistry of Money Heist and the offbeat criminal tone of Fargo. It rewards viewers who like found family stories with a genre twist.
