## Synopsis

Bank Under Siege (2024) is a Spanish crime thriller miniseries created for Netflix, a five-episode limited series with episodes running about forty-one minutes each. Set in Spain in 1981, the story follows a reporter, played by María Pedraza as Maider, racing against the authorities to uncover why armed men took a bank and hundreds of hostages, while José Juan Martínez Gómez, played by Miguel Herrán, is drawn into the heist's tense central standoff. The engine of the series is the pressure of a public siege: negotiators, police, and the press circle the building while each hour brings new demands, leaks, and pressure to act. Each episode tightens the vise, moving between the bank interior and the outside world where information is traded like currency. The overall register is gritty, propulsive, and morally uneasy, with a grounded sense of a country in transition after dictatorship. Its real-events basis gives the drama an urgent authenticity. Fans of La casa de papel, Dog Day Afternoon and The Crimes of Cherry Gaston will find resonance in its blend of heist tension, hostage politics and period texture.
