## Synopsis

Davos 1917 (2023) is a Swiss German-language historical spy miniseries created by Adrian Illien, Thomas Hess, Michael Sauter and Julia Penner and broadcast on SRF 1. Across six episodes of roughly forty-seven minutes, it follows nurse Johanna Gabathuler (Dominique Devenport), a woman determined to live by her deepest desires, who becomes entangled in a spy conspiracy with international implications. Her engine is simple and urgent: she will do anything to find her daughter and secure her freedom, even though the risks are steep and the price of each step is high. Around her, principal figures include Ilse von Hausner (Jeanette Hain), Carl Mangold (David Kross) and Mathilde Gabathuler (Anna Schinz), whose lives tangle with hers in the shadows of the wartime Alpine resort town. The story is a single continuing arc told in a tight, one-season limited run, built from clandestine meetings, shifting loyalties and rising danger. Set in 1917 Davos, the atmosphere is tense, austere and paranoid, with a bittersweet, morally weighted register. Fans of The Crown, The Night Manager and Bodyguard will find resonance in its blend of period detail, personal stakes and espionage intrigue.
