## Synopsis

Oxen (2023-present) is a Danish national-television war drama series created by Mai Brostrøm and Peter Thorsboe for TV 2 and TV 2 Play. Jacob Lohmann plays Niels Oxen, Denmark's most decorated soldier, a former hunter soldier sent home carrying deep war trauma who tries to build meaning out of everyday routines. Ellen Hillingsø plays Frigg Mossman and Josephine Park plays Margrethe Franck, two women whose lives orbit his unstable homecoming, while Birgitte Hjort Sørensen appears as Kajsa Corfitzen alongside Henrik Birch as Hans Otto Corfitzen. The engine of the series is the gap between a battlefield identity and the mundane demands of family, work and community, with each episode built around small domestic frictions that test whether a damaged man can hold a life together. Across two seasons of six episodes each, the story is serialized and character driven, following one continuing arc rather than standalone cases. Its register is sober, intimate and melancholic, with moments of quiet tension and emotional unease. Viewers who admire the psychological weight of Homeland and the Nordic restraint of Borgen will find resonance in its portrait of a soldier's homecoming. The series is set in present-day Denmark, where the consequences of foreign deployment reach into ordinary Danish towns and homes.
