## Synopsis

Till Murder Do Us Part: Soering vs. Haysom (2023) is a German true crime docuseries created for Netflix, released as a four-episode miniseries of roughly fifty minutes each. It revisits the 1985 killings of a Virginia couple and the case built around Jens Soering, a young German exchange student, and his girlfriend Elizabeth Haysom. Rather than presenting a settled verdict, the series centers on investigative journalists Rachel Ryan and Courteney Stuart, who revisit court records, archive footage and the competing accounts of the two lovers, while Soering himself appears in present-day interviews. The engine of each episode is the question of who truly pulled the trigger and whether the official story held up, built from interviews, archival material and reexamined evidence. Set in 1980s America and told in a sober, probing register, the series weighs obsession, manipulation and doubt with a measured, dread-tinged tone. Fans of The Staircase, Making a Murderer and The Jinx will find resonance in its patient, interview-driven approach to a notorious and still-contested killing.
