## Synopsis

Derailment (2023-2024) is a Chinese web drama romance series created for Youku, a Chinese web series with a parallel-universe premise. Liu Haocun plays Jiang Xiaoyuan, an invincible wealthy daughter who, after crossing into another version of her world, becomes an ordinary working girl with nothing to her name. Lin Yi plays Qi Lian, the mysterious man who joins her search for the truth behind her displacement. Across thirty episodes, the engine of the story is her attempt to piece together her real identity while stripped of wealth, family background, appearance and education, and her search pulls her through layered clues about missing people and shifting realities. Supporting roles include Huang Shengchi as Jiang Bo and Fan Shiran as Feng Ruixue. The series is set in contemporary urban China, moving between contrasting versions of the same city. Its tone blends romantic longing with bewildered mystery, and its atmosphere is that of a heroine adrift in unfamiliar surroundings. Fans of Sliding Doors, Russian Doll and Your Name will find resonance in its multiverse identity quest and its romance tangled inside a puzzle.
