## Synopsis

The Defects (2025) is a South Korean action thriller series created by Oh Ki-hwan for ENA, adapted from a webtoon. Yum Jung-ah plays Kim Se-hee and Won Jin-ah plays Kim Ah-hyun, two of the children who barely survived after being abandoned by their adoptive parents, and Choi Young-jun plays Wu Tae-sik in the wider network of people tied to the operation. The engine of the story is revenge: the children, once treated as products to be returned under warranty and discarded, turn against the wealthy buyers and the illicit factory that produced them. Each of the eight episodes, running about fifty-five minutes, builds propulsive confrontations, shifting alliances and escalating violence as the characters close in on the people responsible. The series is a single self-contained season rather than an open-ended run, giving it a tight, focused shape. Its tone is harrowing and angry, with moments of cold satire about commodified human worth, and its visual register is that of a grounded Korean crime thriller. Viewers who enjoy Squid Game, Sweet Home and Money Heist will find similar pulse and moral darkness here.
