## Synopsis

The Fable (2024-present) is a Japanese seinen animated action comedy series produced for Nippon TV and adapted from the manga of the same name. Its protagonist is Akira Sato, a legendary hitman trained to become the world's best assassin, voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu, who is ordered by the head of his crime family to lay low for a year. Yoko Sato, voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, and Misaki Shimizu, voiced by Kana Hanazawa, are among the principal characters orbiting his attempts at everyday life. The engine of the show is the comic friction between lethal skill and mundane routines, as Akira tries to keep his deadly identity hidden while rivals and criminal associates test his restraint. Episodes are self-contained encounters strung along a single season of twenty-five episodes, with a continuing arc rather than a case of the week. Set in contemporary Japan, the series mixes stylized fight choreography with dry humor and quiet melancholy. Fans of Baccano!, Durarara!! and Lupin the Third will find resonance in its deadpan underworld tone and its blend of violence and wit.
