## Synopsis

The Magic District (2023-present) is a Russian fantasy crime comedy series created by Aleksandr Noskov for Okko. Former police sniper Lyokha (Nikolay Naumov), haunted by post-traumatic stress and a drinking problem, becomes guardian to his eight-year-old niece after his sister falls fatally ill. To keep the girl out of an orphanage, he rebuilds old connections and takes a job at a local police precinct, where the criminals are fairy-tale figures such as the Serpent Gorynych, Baba Yaga and other evil spirits. Lyokha's marksman skills make him effective at taking down villains, yet the real challenge is learning to be a steady presence for a child. Eva Smirnova plays Vasilisa Popova, and Filipp Yankovsky plays Vadim Voronov, while Tatyana Dogileva appears as Baba Yaga. The show runs for two seasons of sixteen episodes in total, structured as an episodic case-of-the-week format with a serialized thread about family and grief running beneath it. Its tone mixes gritty, emotionally raw moments with dark humor and absurdist police routine, so the bleak edges of trauma sit beside the comedy of myth turned into paperwork. Fans of Grimm, Supernatural and Shadowhunters will find resonance in its blend of folklore creatures, urban crime and wounded heroes, though its own world is distinctly Russian.
