## Synopsis

Terminator Zero (2024) is a Japanese-American animated science fiction series created by Mattson Tomlin and produced by Production I.G for Netflix. A single eight-episode season of roughly half-hour anime episodes, it follows a warrior from a post-apocalyptic future who travels to 1997 to protect an AI scientist from an unfeeling, indestructible cyborg assassin. The engine is a relentless chase: the protagonist must keep the scientist alive while the machine hunts across a city that does not yet know what is coming. Episodes are built around confrontations, hideouts and a father trying to shield his family, with much of the story unfolding in a single cramped room where exposition accumulates. Voice cast includes Yuuya Uchida as Malcolm Lee, Hiro Shimono as Kenta, Saori Hayami as Misaki and Toa Yukinari as Eiko. The tone is grim and action driven, with a sense of dread and inevitability rather than warmth. It sits in the lineage of the Terminator films, and fans of The Terminator and Ghost in the Shell will recognize its cyberpunk anxiety about machines and artificial intelligence. The series was canceled after one season.
