## Synopsis

Spider-Man: The New Animated Series (2003) is a Canadian-American animated superhero series created by Marsha Griffin, Morgan Gendel and Brian Michael Bendis for MTV. Teenager Peter Parker (voiced by Neil Patrick Harris) gets bitten by an irradiated spider and gains arachnid powers, and he has to balance saving ordinary people in trouble against being wanted by the police. Mary Jane Watson (Lisa Loeb) and Harry Osborn (Ian Ziering) orbit his school and home life, while rogues such as Electro and Kraven the Hunter turn up to test him. Each episode is a self-contained action outing built from street-level crimes, chases through the city and the constant pressure of hiding a double life, so the story moves in brisk bursts of spectacle with an introspective undercurrent about responsibility and isolation. The series ran for a single season of thirteen episodes in a stylized three-dimensional comic book look, with a tone that is earnest, energetic and youthful rather than dark.
