## Synopsis

High Country (2024-2026) is an Australian mystery drama series created by Marcia Gardner and John Ridley for Binge and Showcase. Detective Andrea 'Andie' Whitford (Leah Purcell) is transferred to Victoria's High Country, where five people have vanished into the wilderness. Her investigation pulls her through a tangled web of murder, deceit and revenge, with Helen Hartley (Sara Wiseman), Owen Cooper (Aaron Pedersen) and Damien Stark (Henry Nixon) among the principal figures around her. The engine of the show is the slow accumulation of evidence across cold, isolated country where every local seems to hold a secret and every trail leads back to the land itself. Episodes are built around interviews, searches and shifting alliances, and the story unfolds as one continuing investigation across two seasons of eight episodes each. The series is set in a contemporary Victorian landscape of mountains, forests and small towns, and its mood is tense, austere and unsettled. Its atmosphere of wilderness dread and moral murk will appeal to viewers who enjoy Australian crime dramas in the vein of Mystery Road and Top of the Lake.
