## Synopsis

Friends (1994-2004) is an American multi-camera sitcom created by Marta Kauffman and David Crane for NBC. Six twenty-something friends, Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) and Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), lean on one another as they stumble through first jobs, messy dating lives and the expensive business of living in Manhattan. Each episode is built from small domestic crises that play out in apartments and at the gang's regular coffee shop, with the comedy coming from sharp banter, mismatched personalities and recurring running jokes. The series runs ten seasons as one continuing comic story, with romantic arcs that tighten and loosen over the years. Its tone is warm, breezy and nostalgic, with the emotional center resting on the friendships rather than any single romance. Set in 1990s New York, it has the look and rhythm of a classic network sitcom. Fans of How I Met Your Mother, Seinfeld and The Big Bang Theory will find a similar comic resonance in its ensemble of close friends.
