## Synopsis

Douglas Is Cancelled (2024) is a British four-episode limited series created by Steven Moffat for ITV. Hugh Bonneville plays Douglas, a respected news presenter whose career is threatened after an ill-advised joke, while Karen Gillan plays his tech-savvy co-anchor Madeline, who has two million social media followers and could throw him a lifeline by speaking up in his defense. Around them, Ben Miles as Toby, Alex Kingston as Sheila, and Nick Mohammed as Morgan orbit the newsroom and its fallout. The engine of the story is a single escalating question: will Madeline post, and what will it cost her. Each of the four hour-long episodes tightens the pressure on the studio and on everyone's reputation. The tone is sharp and anxious, a witty satire of modern public judgement with a quietly tense undercurrent. Set in contemporary Britain among television journalists, it sits in the vein of The Thick of It and Drop the Dead Donkey for fans of workplace satire about the media. The series delivers a compact, dialogue-driven drama that rewards close attention to its characters' small choices.
