## Synopsis

One Day (2024) is a British-American limited series created by Nicole Taylor for Netflix, adapted from the novel by David Nicholls. Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall play Emma and Dexter, two graduates who spend a single night together and then drift in different directions while their lives stay tangled over the following two decades. Supporting principals include Essie Davis as Alison and Tim McInnerny as Stephen, whose family and career pressures keep pulling the pair apart and back together. The engine of the show is the question of whether timing, ambition and old wounds can ever let two people fully meet. Each episode revisits the same date in a successive year, so the story moves through jobs, apartments, heartbreaks and small reunions in a bittersweet rhythm. Set across late twentieth and early twenty-first century England, it moves between London and other settings with a wistful, intimate feel. The fourteen episodes form one continuing arc, and the production has the polish of a prestige streaming drama. Fans of Normal People, Before Sunrise and Bridget Jones's Diary will find the same ache of love deferred and the same tender, grounded emotional honesty.
