## Synopsis

Moonflower Murders (2024) is a British limited series created by Anthony Horowitz for BBC One, a six-episode cosy mystery adapted in the tradition of classic English whodunits. Lesley Manville plays Susan Ryeland, a former publishing editor who has left London to live quietly in Crete with her boyfriend Andreas (Alexandros Logothetis). Her peaceful life is disrupted when Cecily MacNeil, a young woman who helps run a British country hotel, disappears after deciding the wrong man was convicted of a murder years earlier. Susan's search pulls her back into the world of a crime novel written by Alan Conway (Conleth Hill), whose pages seem to conceal the real answer. The engine of the story is a patient, document-driven investigation: Susan rereads chapters, follows leads across phone calls and hotel records, and tests theories against the characters' hidden motives. Each episode unfolds as a layered puzzle with suspects, red herrings and gradually sharpened clues. The mood is wry, intimate and gently suspenseful, with sunlit Mediterranean calm contrasting the damp English country house. Fans of Agatha Christie's Poirot, Midsomer Murders and Sherlock will find resonance in its clever detective work and literary puzzle.
