## Synopsis

Murder in a Small Town (2024-present) is a Canadian and American crime drama series created by Ian Weir for FOX and Global TV. Rossif Sutherland plays Karl Alberg, a police chief who moves to a quiet coastal town hoping to soothe a psyche worn down by big city police work, only to find that a run of murders keeps washing up on his shore. Kristin Kreuk plays Cassandra Lee, and Aaron Douglas plays Sergeant Sid Sokolowski, both principal figures in the local investigations. The engine of the show is Alberg's struggle to keep his peace while his skills are called on again and again, with each episode built around a new death and the small community's secrets that surface alongside it. The series runs across two seasons and eighteen episodes and remains on air. Set in a picturesque country town with a rugged, weathered look, it trades the hard edged sleuthing of American procedurals for a laid back, soulful register, with warmth in the character chemistry and a contemplative, atmospheric mood. Fans of Hinterland, Shetland and Broadchurch will find resonance in its quiet coastal dread and humane detective work.
