## Synopsis

Had I Not Seen the Sun is a Taiwanese crime thriller series that blends psychological suspense with a slow-burning romance. Filmmaker Zhou Pin-yu visits a prison to interview a convicted serial killer, and the encounter pulls her into a web of mysterious events tied to a buried past. Each episode peels back another layer of trauma, revealing wounds that the characters have carried for years and that shape how they love, distrust, and remember. The mood is melancholic and tense, with an undercurrent of dread that gathers in intimate interrogation rooms and rain-soaked city streets. Its story moves across two seasons with a non-linear rhythm, so that fragments of the past surface gradually and recontextualize earlier scenes. Emotional weight rather than shock drives the drama, and its bruised tenderness gives the thriller an unusually humane center. Viewers who enjoy grounded psychological crime stories about damaged minds, moral entanglement, and the cost of secrets will find much to appreciate here. The series is closer to a character study wrapped in mystery than a procedural, and its patient pacing rewards close attention throughout.
