## Synopsis

The On1y One (2024) is a Taiwanese boys love romance series created by Mu Suli and Liu Kuang-Hui for Netflix and other streamers. Liu Dongqin plays Sheng Wang, a high school student whose life is upended when his parents marry and he must share a home and a school life with a rival stepbrother. Benjamin Tsang plays Jiang Tian, the other half of a prickly pairing whose hostility slowly softens into something more serious. Samuel Ku and Kenny Yen fill out the circle of friends and classmates, while Mimi Shao and Chen Wei-min appear in supporting roles around the family. The engine of the series is the everyday friction of shared bedrooms, classroom rivalries and family dinners, which gradually tilts toward a tender bond the characters must face openly. Told across a single twelve-episode season of roughly an hour each, it is a compact, character-driven romance rather than a sprawling saga. The tone is sentimental and wistful, with a light comic thread carried by a straight best friend and a sincere emotional core. Its adaptation roots in a web novel give it the pacing of a serialized romance. Fans of Addicted, Heartstopper and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha will find resonance in its blend of teen longing, domestic awkwardness and slow-burn tenderness.
