## Synopsis

The Gardener (2025) is a Spanish crime thriller miniseries created by Miguel Sáez Carral and released on Netflix. Álvaro Rico plays Elmer, a hitman whose mother trained away his capacity for feeling so he could become a killer for hire. He and his partner present themselves as calm local gardeners in a quiet coastal Galician town, a cover that keeps their violent work hidden from neighbors. The engine of the story is the tension between his cold professional discipline and the emotional pull he feels toward his next target, which threatens to expose the cover he has built. Cecilia Suárez appears as La China Jurado, and Catalina Sopelana plays Violeta, while María Vázquez plays Detective Carrera, whose investigation tightens around the operation. Across six episodes of roughly 47 minutes each, the series moves through contract killings, surveillance, and quiet domestic routines that turn increasingly unstable. The mood is restrained, bleak, and tense, with a deliberately cool surface over a current of dread. Viewers who enjoy Dexter, Money Heist, and The Killing will find a similar pull toward morally compromised characters and slow-building suspense.
