## Synopsis

Maxima is a Dutch-language royal drama series that dramatizes the life of Maxima Zorreguieta, an Argentine woman who becomes the partner of Dutch crown prince Willem-Alexander. Her struggle is to find a place inside an old European court while holding on to her identity and her family. The engine of the story is the return of her past: public discussion of her father Jorge Zorreguieta and his political career under the Videla regime in Argentina, a subject she never had to face in her own circles. Court tensions draw in the queen and her own mother, so each episode weighs private loyalty against public duty. The tone is restrained and tense, a prestige period-style drama with a political undercurrent. Viewers drawn to stories of power, scrutiny and the cost of belonging will find much to hold their attention in its measured portrait of a woman caught between two worlds.
