## Synopsis

Girls Band Cry (2024) is a Japanese animated slice of life series produced by Toei Animation and broadcast on TOKYO MX and other regional networks. Nina Iseri, a high school dropout who has left home alone for Tokyo, is the protagonist, voiced by Rina, and the story follows her as she forms a rock band with Momo Kawaragi (voiced by Yuri), Subaru Awa (Mirei), Tomo Ebizuka (Natsu) and Rupa (Shuri). Each of these girls is carrying a private loneliness or a hidden wound, and the engine of the series is the slow, often awkward work of turning strangers into a working band. Rehearsals, small gigs, arguments and quiet confessions in cramped practice rooms make up the thirteen episodes of this single season. The look is bright, three-dimensional and kinetic, and the tone moves between wistful and hopeful, with music serving as the place where feelings finally surface. Fans of Bocchi the Rock! and BECK will find resonance here, as will viewers drawn to coming of age stories about youth chasing a dream in a big city. Set in contemporary Tokyo suburbs and the city itself, it is a grounded, emotionally direct anime built around friendship, music and the search for belonging.
